With Love, Melanie

Ode to Una began because I was chasing a dream. I discovered the deeply fulfilling experience of wearing slow fashion while living in Los Angeles. I loved being able to dress with the style, comfort, and intention that allowed me to express who I am as a woman. The clothing was sustainable, ethically made, creatively inspiring, and aligned with my sense of identity. I was finally wearing pieces that not only looked good, but felt good on my body.

Then, I moved to Chicago and spent years searching for that same experience. After continually coming up short, I took take a leap of faith and created Ode to Una. An essential part of this brand is partnering with independent and emerging women designers and women-owned brands. Many of us are on a path to discovering who we are, what truly matters, and how we want to look and feel along the way. My goal is to make this type of fashion accessible to all women, of all body types, who choose to dress and live thoughtfully and beautifully — wherever they are on their journey.

When I think about it, my mission began long ago. I began my career as an art historian and art advisor to private collectors, so identifying special pieces and building meaningful collections has always been a natural part of who I am. I have long been drawn to art — clothing, jewelry, and home décor. And over the years, it’s become increasingly important to me to know where my clothing comes from, how it’s made, and the thoughtfulness behind its production and design. Hand-selecting products and carefully choosing the partners who share these values makes my work even more meaningful.

I am grateful for this opportunity that’s allowed me to stay true to who I am, my creativity, and my sense of identity. I hope you’re equally inspired and will fall as deeply in love as I have with the brands we carry and the collections I've created.
